Lodging FAQ’s
How and when do we check in?
Our check-in time is 3:00 p.m. EST in the restaurant building with a server. If
you would like to check-in earlier or think you will be arriving after 8:00 p.m.,
please call on the day of your reservation for more information. Contactless
check-in is also available. Please call the resort on the day of check-in to
make arrangements. Payment for your stay (cash or credit card) is due
upon arrival.
What time is check-out?
Check-out is 10:00 a.m. EST. Late check-out
requests can be made on the day of
departure before 10:00 a.m. and are
dependent on availability & occupancy. A
check-out time of noon or later is subject to
additional charges.
How do I get a confirmation?
Email the Resort at
lifeisgood@buckhornresort.com and
include your name and dates. We will
get back to you with a confirmation
email that includes driving directions.
How do I make a reservation?
Please call us at 906-387-3559 for the most up-to-date availability. Reservations
can also be made on booking.com (availability, prices, & policies are subject to
change online). We require a credit card to reserve rooms/lodges and to cover
incidental costs. No charges are made to your card until your arrival when you
make your reservation by phone.
Do you have a minimum length of stay?
Our motel rooms can be rented daily, though there may be 2-night
minimums during peak seasons. Lodges must be booked by the week
during the snowmobile season (Lodge 1 is booked Sunday to Sunday and
Lodge 2 is booked Saturday to Saturday) and have a 3-night minimum the
remainder of the year.
Is breakfast included?
Our restaurant serves lunch & dinner. Please
plan ahead for breakfast. Rooms & Lodges
have a coffee pot, microwave, and fridge.
Will my cell phone work?
Cell service in the Hiawatha National
Forst is unreliable and spotty at best.
We have boosters located in the bar to
help provide a stronger signal. Please
note that there are no landline phones in
the motel rooms or lodges
Is there Wi-Fi at the Buckhorn Resort?
Satellite Wi-Fi is available throughout the restaurant, motel, and lodges.
Passwords are required, but provided in the restaurant and each room and lodge.
Please keep in mind our remote location and appreciate the challenges we face
trying to keep these systems running.
How do I make a group lodging reservation?
We will hold a block of rooms (depending on availability) under one name
for an agreed upon amount of time, wherein the individual group members
will call to give us their specific information. This keeps one person from
your group from being financially responsible for the whole group, unless
that is what is requested.
What if I leave something
behind in my room?
Please double-check for personal items
before check out. We will hold lost items for
up to 7 days. Please contact us for shipping
costs & information. Pillows will not be held
due to space & cleanliness concerns.
Are there grills or campfires?
There is a charcoal grill & campfire pit
provided at each lodge and near the
motel for guest use during non-snow
seasons. Charcoal, firewood, and
utensils are not provided.
What is provided in the lodges?
The lodges each come with bed linens & towels, a full kitchen (oven/stove,
refrigerator, microwave, and coffeemaker) with dishes, utensils, and a fan. Dish
soap and toilet paper are also provided. Please bring your own food & favorite
kitchen gadgets that you plan to use. There are often pancake griddles & slow
cookers, but we cannot guarantee it. There is no housekeeping during your stay,
but fresh towels can be provided midweek (week-long stays) upon request.
Do you have air conditioning? Hair Dryers?
No. Each room and lodge have a fan provided and windows with screens. If
you are concerned about temperatures, especially in the lodges, plan
accordingly and bring extra fans. Nighttime temperatures in our area
during the summer can drop into the 50’s. Hair dryers & Irons/Ironing
Boards are not provided in the rooms or lodges. We may have one available
to borrow, but please bring your own if you think you will need it.
What is provided in the motel?
Each motel room has a refrigerator,
microwave, coffee pot, and fan. Coffee, bath
towels & basic toiletries, and bed linens are
also provided.
Is there parking available?
We have plenty of parking for trucks,
trailers, and machines. Please ask staff if
you are unsure where to park, especially
during the snow season.
Is smoking allowed in the Buckhorn?
Michigan state law prohibits smoking in public establishments, including
restaurants, motels, & lodges. This law includes e-cigarette, vaping, and
marijuana. Please be respectful of others when smoking outdoors and be
aware of open windows. Please dispose of your cigarette ends & other garbage
responsibly. If you are found to have been smoking in your room or lodge, we
will assess a deep cleaning charge.
